9/16/06 - Gary has started a Vlog

Gary Grimm has begun an experimental Video Blog (Vlog) to post periodic video clips that are personal or related to work Mountain Visions has been or is currently involved in. Over time the Vlog will also attempt to test the functionality and quality of various video download servers. Video uploaded to Google Video, for example, does not have seem to have the same quality as the same file available on the Mountain Visions web site.

9/9/06 - Gary has started a Blog

Gary Grimm has started a Blog to research various aspects of Social Networking, including Web 2.0, Blogs, Wikis, and discussion forums. The intention is to discover ways of incorporating these concepts into the Interactive web sites and Networking Centers that Mountain Visions is developing. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

8/22/06 - Initiated Carmel River Restoration Wiki Space Project

Our long time associate and friend Harrison Hilbert, has taken recurring photographs of the Carmel River Restoration in California over a 30 year period. We helped him digitize 35 mm slides and prints and created a multimedia presentation showing the progressive changes. We decided to experiment with a the new wiki services available today to make the Carmel River Restoration Wiki Project.

7/25/06 - Google Earth Pro Movies added to Digital Video Gallery

In June, when the Google Earth (Release 4 -BETA) became available for the Macintosh, we purchased the Google Earth Pro Version with the Movie Making Module, GIS Importing Module and the Premium Printing Module. We have created some experimental Standard Definition and High Definition Movies and decided to put some of these on our web site. Note the "High Quality" mode is not yet fully functional in the High Definition Mode, however, as soon as possible, we will be producing these movies to add to our HDV video showcase.

7/24/06 - Google Earth Tour of 360 Degree Jamaica Panoramas

As an experiment we have created a Google Earth Tour of Jamaica that includes locations where we have taken approximately fifty five 360 degree panoramas. The tour identifies 11 Jamaica Protected Areas and an average of 5 panoramas locations in each one. At least one of the panoramas in each protected area is hot linked to the Jamaica Protected Areas Trust (JPAT) web site we are currently constructing. Download Jamaica360PanoramaTour3.kmz - Please use the Firefox browser if you're using a Mac.

4/6/06 - Natural Resource Issues section added to HD Video Gallery

HD Video of two different issues we are concerned about include proposed development of the Hammer Flat area and the proposed four-lane highway through the Indian Valley area. Look for more similar projects in the future.

4/1/06 - High Definition Video and panorama of Manatees from Jamaica

We have added some beautiful HD video of one manatee swimming and feeding at the Alligator Hole River. We also added the panorama we submitted to the World Wide Panorama of the Manatee viewing area at Alligator Hole River in Jamaica. Seeing these amazing gentle animals truly made our trip to Jamaica a memorable one!

3/18/06 Mountain Visions participates in World Wide Panorama Shoot during the March 2006 Vernal Equinox.

We participated in the Spring Vernal Equinox World Wide Panorama. During the equinox we were in Jamaica doing photography for the Jamaica Protected Area Trust. We had a day free and shot a panorama at the Alligator Hole River viewing site where three resident manatees are confined. Their story is a sad one and we have added links to more information to help people understand their plight.

1/4/06 - More High Definition Digital Video

We've added some HD video of a Cooper's Hawk in our backyard and immature Golden Eagles to the Wildlife section of the Digital Video Gallery.
