12/1/03 - Mountain Visions Presented the Interactive Watersheds Project at National Joint Ventures Conference, November 2003

Mountain Visions gave a presentation at the Joint Ventures - Partners in Stewardship Conference, November 20, 2003 in Los Angeles. Our session demonstrated that attractive and immersive web sites can provide detailed interactive visual information about how "Community Based Watershed Partnerships" restore watersheds and ecosystems. In addition, we examined how Online "Watershed Community Centers" can encourage growing and ongoing public participation in management decisions and volunteer, monitoring and educational activities.

We also had an exhibit booth at the Joint Ventures expo tradeshow. We showcased the Interactive Watersheds project in addition to other Mountain Visions interactive multimedia productions which are on this web site. We received lots of nice comments on our full screen panoramas. And many were very interested in how we can create immersive interactive virtual environments to expand awareness of our natural resources.

11/6/03 - 3D Virtual Internet Tours Showcase Watershed Protection Efforts

Web site uses top-shelf panoramic photography and digital video to highlight wetland and habitat restoration
Today, in the space of just a few moments, citizens can view the fall aspen colors in Utah’s Upper Sevier watershed, watch people snorkeling and studying fish species in Georgia’s Conasauga River, see the rushing whitewater of Colorado’s South Platte River and the rocky Great Falls along the Potomac River near Washington, D.C., and learn about the bird-filled wetlands of California’s Upper Pit River watershed. These are scenes from a series of unique Interactive Watersheds web sites - accessible at www.interactivewatersheds.net - that showcase watershed restoration efforts across the country. Using innovative 360-degree panoramic photography and digital video, these web sites invite users to learn about ongoing watershed restoration activities in an engaging and interactive way.
