In 1995-96 we helped the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) create their first web site. Around the country fires are common during the summer months and NIFC's web site provides current information on these. During the 2000 Trail Creek Fire in Idaho we captured panoramas, video and still images and were able to demonstrate that these images could be placed on a web site almost as fast as television news.
During the summer of 2002, major fires occurred in two of the Interactive Watersheds projects we are currently producing web sites for. After the Hayman Fire in Colorado and the Sanford Fire in Utah we spent about a week in each area shooting 360 degree panoramas, video and still images and subsequently produced a lot of multimedia material for the watershed web sites. We have not seen another web site that contains the amount and depth of audiovisual information related to a fire as these two projects.
