We have been shooting High Definition immersive panoramas for a number of years. We have also learned how to create High Definition multi-media sequences using still images. In November 2004 on a work trip to Jamaica, we started shooting High Definition video.
A High Definition image can range from a large image of 1920x1080 pixels and can also be compressed down in a lot of different screen sizes all the way down to a video iPod screen of 320x240. In addition, the largest size contains approximately six times the pixel resolution of a Standard Definition video. This means that the quality and sharpness and the color are exceptional compared to Standard Definition. The larger sized windows will require a faster, newer computers, but the smaller sized windows can be played back on slower, older computers.
The advanced H.264 codec that is used for High Definition video requires QuickTime 7. View the system requirements provided by the Apple Quicktime Guide.
