Bios of Project Personnel

 

Angela Hawse

Angela Hawse earned a BA in both Outdoor Education and as an Interpretive Naturalist from Prescott College in 1986. She spent five years as a Faculty Lecturer in the Adventure Education Program at Prescott College and has over nine seasons instructing for Outward Bound Schools. For the last five years, she has worked as a professional guide for the American Alpine Institute in the U.S., Canada and Alaska. In 1995, Angela lead an expedition to an unclimbed 6000 meter peak in Pakistan's Karakoram Range, establishing 2800 feet of 5.10 A2 climbing. In 1993 she was one of three U.S. representatives on the UIAA International Himalayan Camp, also in Pakistan. She was a member of the 1988 International Gangotri Expedition to India's Garwhal Himalaya and in 1987 skied across Sweden into Norway, self-supported for 28 days. She has guided ascents of 6 of the 10 highest peaks in Ecuador, eight first ascents in the St. Elias Range and guided on Denali from 1995-97. She has ascents in Patagonia, on El Capitan, Alaska, Canada and throughout the U.S. Angela is currently pursuing a Master of Arts Degree in Environmental and Cultural Geography, from Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona.

 

Kerry E. Nodal

Kerry E. Nodal received a degree in Business Administration in 1991 and subsequently worked for 3 years for the Coca-Cola Company as a senior administrative specialist. Discovering her passion for environmental issues, she returned to college to earn another degree in 1996 in Environmental Conservation and Resource Management with an emphasis on Solid Waste Management. Kerry facilitated and operated a comprehensive recycling program at Prescott Collegein Prescott, Arizona; participated in a one-month internship at the City of Prescott Transfer Station; and helped local businesses in Prescott setup small-scale recycling operations. Most recently, Kerry completed an extensive study of Integrated Waste Management in the National Park Service. Kerry's outdoor experience includes over 4 years of rock climbing in addition to mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, kayaking and traveling.
