The specific purpose of this corporation is to conserve land in the Mattole River Watershed and surrounding areas to be used for the:
- conservation of natural resources including soil fertility, water cycling and
- supply, fish and wildlife habitat, forested and open land
- maintenance of genetic bank for native plant and animal life
- preservation of mature forests for stabilization of the climate
- education in the principles of conservation and ecologically sound land use
- management
- non-consumptive recreation
- preservation of spiritual and aesthetic values
